Briton "theatrette" model 30 1938

Bet you've never seen one of these before.

Yes it's the same as the Philips Theatrette - but it's made in Australia by a tiny firm called Briton Electrical and Radio Pty Ltd

Founded in 1935 by Noel Briton in 1938 he launched the theatrette an obvious rebadging of the Philips radio, complete with the weirdest non-chassis in the world.

Unlike Philips, Briton has a single wave only version of this radio.

And unlike Philips they made at least one green one.

They weren't even ambitious enough to make room for a 4 digit serial number
